Amish White Bread 




Ingredients:

2 cups warm water (110°F/45°C)

⅔ cup white sugar

1 ½ tbsp active dry yeast

1 ½ tsp salt

¼ cup vegetable oil
-
6 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions:

Activate the Yeast:In a large bowl, dissolve sugar in warm water.
Stir in the yeast and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

Make the Dough:Add salt and vegetable oil to the yeast mixture.
Gradually mix in flour, one cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.

Knead & Rise:Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth.
Place in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for 1 hour (until doubled in size).

Shape & Second Rise:Punch down the dough and divide it into two loaves.
Place into greased loaf pans and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

Bake & Enjoy:Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
Let cool before slicing.
